And has yet, at least for me, produced any hanging or mis attributed modifiers. No confusion. The evidence that this ChatGPT thing is a purely functional generative language model comes from its instantaneous response. It’s not mulling the topic, composing anything in the background before replying — it simply begins and calculates the next word, and the next, until the question’s constraints tell it to shift, skip or stop.
And when asked to try again, it instantly begins, no forethought or contemplation, even at the insane speeds at which it calculates. At this point in AI’s evolution, it’s pure algorithm, no analysis, no contextualization.
That’s what’s missing right now. The means by which that ability gets wrapped around this text engine has yet to be determined.
